No-Hitter, Walk-Off Highlight Softball Team's Doubleheader Sweep of Yale
March 18, 2023 | Softball
The opener saw Laudenslager strike out 10 batters in those five innings, allowing just two walks as two Yale batters reached on errors and another on a passed ball.
Laudenslager had two no-hitters last season, another of five innings against Yale and a seven-inning blanking of Brown. Erin Snyder '06 is the only other Tiger with as many as three career solo no-hitters, throwing four.
Princeton scored in all four of its at-bats in the opener. The first inning saw Princeton get three hits, a walk and benefit from an error as Julia Dumais had an RBI double, Grace Jackson drew a bases-loaded walk, and Cate Bade picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly as Princeton led 4-0.
Two more came home in the second inning on two hits and a walk, with Adrienne Chang getting a sacrifice fly and Jackson picking up another RBi on a base hit.
Princeton pushed the lead to 7-0 in the third on two hits and a walk with Dumais getting the RBI hit, and the Tigers' biggest inning was the fourth, when five runs came home on five hits and an error. Bade brought one home with a double, Lauren Sablone followed with a two-run double, Serena Starks added a run-scoring hit, and Caitlin Bish had the final RBI of the opener.

Yale ended its hitless drought early in the nightcap, but the game remained scoreless into the fourth before Sophie Woodridge homered to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Three hits and two walks in the fifth helped push the lead to 3-0, but the Tigers got one back in the bottom half of the inning when Starks followed a Lauren Pappert single with a long single of her own to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Princeton pulled even in the sixth when Chang had a leadoff double and pinch-hitter Caitlin Bish followed with a home run for the first homer of the junior's career.

The bottom of the seventh saw Dumais get a one-out single, Allison Ha follow that with a base hit, and Murphy send a double to the gap in right-center to pick up both and win the game.
