On the Tigers: Princeton has won seven of eight since returning from the spring-break trip to Florida, including a 5-1 start in Ivy League play. Seniors Serena Starks (.337) and Adrienne Chang (.333) lead the team in batting average, and Starks leads the Ivy with 28 hits. In the circle, fellow senior Alexis Laudenslager (4-8, 2.90 ERA) has a league-best 83 strikeouts, with rookie Brielle Wright (3-2, 3.41) second on the team in innings pitched. All four pitchers had work against Rider in the team's last outing on Wednesday, with junior Molly Chambers (4-2, 3.53) and sophomore Meghan Harrington (0-1, 3.08) entering in relief. Harrington's four saves on the season put her sixth in the country in that stat, and senior catcher Ashley McDonald stands 10th in the nation in runners caught stealing, with 10. Harrington's fourth save has already tied the program record for saves in a season, which Riley Wilkinson '19 set twice, in 2016 and 2017. Wilkinson's nine career saves are the program record, and Harrington is tied for second in program history with five.Â
On the Quakers: Senior Sarah Schneider is second in the Ivy, right behind Starks, with 26 hits on the season, and leads the league with 10 doubles and 42 total bases. Junior Brianna Brown has a league-best 11 stolen bases and is perfect so far on the season in 11 tries. Schneider (.338), junior Sammy Fenton (.308) and Brown (.304) lead the team at the plate, and rookie Kelly Zybura (1-12, 6.03) and sophomore Rachel Riley (1-6, 6.26) have combined to throw 126 2/3 of the team's 161 1/3 innings. Penn's last time out was a doubleheader Wednesday at Lehigh, which the Mountain Hawks swept.Â
The series: Princeton leads the all-time series with the Quakers 68-32. The Tigers swept last season's series in Princeton and took two of three in the prior series, in Philadelphia, in 2019. Penn swept the 2018 series in Princeton.
Up next: Princeton will return home for a non-league game Wednesday at 4 p.m. against Lehigh and then resume the Ivy season with a three-game series against Columbia April 8-9.Â
