Baseball Makes Trip To Monmouth Wednesday

PRINCETON – The Princeton Baseball Team heads on the road to take on the Monmouth Hawks on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
The Tigers are 11-16 this season with victories over Georgia, Duke, Richmond, Cincinnati, SC Upstate, Dartmouth, Harvard and Penn. The Tigers sit 5-4 in the Ivy League with Columbia (7-2), Harvard (7-2) and Penn ahead of them. The top four teams make the Ivy League Tournament.
Scott Bandura has been one of the best hitters in the country, sitting 42nd overall at .398. Since starting the season 0-for-8, the junior is hitting .430. He is on a 11-game hitting streak with nine of those contests being multi-hit performances. Bandura is 39th in hits per game (1.59), 53rd in doubles per game (.41) and 78th in total doubles (11). The outfielder leads the team in slugging percentage (.676), total bases (73), stolen bases (nine) and is tied for the team high in runs (23).
Marasheski is the other member hitting over .300 (.310), contributing 11 doubles, 19 runs and 10 RBI. The senior is having a stellar season, setting career highs in in hits (31), runs, slugging (.460) and extra base hits (13).
Kyle Vinci has been one of the best power hitters in the nation as his 12 home runs are 24th in the NCAA while his home runs per game (.48) are fourth. His 12 home runs are one short of Michael Ciminiello Princeton single-season mark in 1996. Vinci paces the Tigers with 30 RBI while 1.2 RBI per game is 78th in the country.
Justin Kim leads Princeton in ERA with 2.61 in 27 1/3 innings of work. He's allowed just 17 hits which marks out to 5.60 hits per nine innings which is 23rd in the NCAA. Tom Chmielewski has been the best weekend starter for Princeton, corralling a 4.35 ERA in seven starts. He has 41 punch outs in 39 1/3 innings.
Monmouth is 12-15 this season with wins over Maine, Merrimack, UNC Wilmington, Seton Hall, St. Joe's, William and Mary, Saint Peter's, NJIT and North Carolina A&T. Phil Stahl has a team-high .412 batting average and 1.043 OPS. Dante Ciaramella has been the Hawks' best pitcher with a 4.09 ERA in 33 stanzas.
