Weather Changes Schedule For Princeton Baseball Vs. Columbia

PRINCETON – The Princeton Tigers welcome the Columbia Lions to Clarke Field for a weekend series beginning Friday.
Game 1 of the three-game set will be Friday at 3:30 p.m. Due to pending weather expected on Saturday, Princeton and Columbia will pick up their series with a doubleheader beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The Tigers are 12-16 this season with victories over Georgia, Duke, Richmond, Cincinnati, SC Upstate, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn and Monmouth. The Tigers sit 5-4 in the Ivy League with Columbia (7-2), Harvard (7-2) and Penn ahead of them. The top four teams make the Ivy League Tournament.
Scott Bandura has been one of the best hitters in the country, posting a .412 batting average, good for 32nd in the NCAA. He has 47 hits which is 77th nationally while his 1.68 hits per game is 24th. Since starting 0-for-8 in the first two games of the season, Bandura is hitting .443 in 26 games since.
Bandura also leads the team in runs (25), slugging (.675), on-base percentage (.477), stolen bases and sits second in home runs (five) and RBI (30).
Eric Marasheski is second on the team in hitting at .320 along with a team-best 12 doubles. Nick DiPientrantonio has produced a .290 average with two four-baggers and 16 RBI.
Kyle Vinci has blasted his way to one of the top power hitters in the NCAA with his 12 home runs that are 32nd overall while his .46 home runs per contest are sixth. He has 31 RBI and a .642 slugging percentage.
Justin Kim leads Princeton in ERA with 2.76 in 29 1/3 innings of work. Tom Chmielewski has been the best weekend starter for Princeton, corralling a 4.35 ERA in seven starts. He has 41 punch outs in 39 1/3 innings.
Columbia is 17-11 this season and currently on a five-game winning streak. The Lions have taken down UNC Wilmington, No. 18 Alabama, Tulane, Manhattan, Brown, Monmouth, Cornell, No. 19 UConn, Yale and Fordham.
Griffin Palfrey has a Lions' best .416 average and is one of four players with an OPS over 1.000 (1.136). Andy Blake (.380/.445/.674), Hayden Schott (.357/.448/.704) and Seth Dardar (.319/.406/.602) are the other Columbia players with an OPS over 1.000. Columbia is hitting .309 as a team. The Lions' two best pitchers have been Joe Sheets with a 2.56 ERA in 38 2/3 innings and Andy Leon with a 2.70 ERA in 36 2/3 innings.
