Baseball Makes Quick Trip To Rider Wednesday

PRINCETON – The Princeton Baseball Team makes a short trip to take on the Rider Broncs Wednesday with first pitch set for 3 p.m.
The Tigers are 14-17 this season with victories over Georgia, Duke, Richmond, Cincinnati, SC Upstate, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Monmouth, Columbia. The Tigers sit 7-5 in the Ivy League, tied with Yale, with Penn (9-3), Columbia (8-4), Harvard (8-4) ahead of them. The top four teams make the Ivy League Tournament.
Scott Bandura has been one of the best hitters in the country, sitting 27th overall at .411. He's 24th in hits per game (1.65) and 75th in hits (51). The junior also leads the team in runs (27), extra base hits (20), total bases (87), slugging (.702), on-base percentage (.472) and stolen bases (nine). His slugging percentage would be second in a single season in program history.
Noah Granet has returned and produced a .393 average in 28 at-bats. He went 8-for-12 in the Columbia series and scored five times. Eric Marasheski has a .313 average, has scored 23 runs and 14 extra base hits.
Kyle Vinci has had one of the best power seasons in the country as he's 27th in the NCAA with 13 home runs while his .45 home runs per contest are eighth. He tied the Princeton single season home run record with Michael Ciminiello from 1996.
Justin Kim paces Princeton in ERA with a 2.86 mark in 34 2/3 innings out of the bullpen. Tom Chmielewski has been the Tigers' best starter with a 3.97 ERA in eight starts. He has struck out 44 hitters in 45 1/3 frames and thrown at least six innings four of his last five outings.
Rider is 24-11 this season, having secured wins over Gardner-Webb, Oklahoma, Lafayette, Delaware, FDU, Richmond, Villanova, Quinnipiac, Delaware State, Niagara, Villanova, Siena, and Canisius. Brian Skettini leads the Broncs with a .298 average while Brendan O'Donnell paces the squad with 11 home runs. Frank Doelling has been the unit's best pitcher with a 3.15 ERA in nine starts.
