ITHACA, N.Y. – The Princeton Baseball Team broke the program record for home runs in a season as it bashed six in an 11-8 victory over the Cornell Big Red on Friday afternoon.

The Tigers' six home runs gives them 44 on the season, breaking the mark of 43 set in 1996. Princeton also hit the second most in a single-game in program history.

Matt Scannell and Eric Marasheski led off the game with back-to-back home runs, but Cornell countered with two in their half of the first to tie the contest. A sacrifice fly put the home team in front in the second frame.

After Scott Bandura stole second and third base, Kyle Vinci brough him home on a long blast to left field for his 15th home run of the season. Three hitters later, Noah Granet continued his hot streak with a home run to extend the Tigers' lead to three, 6-3.

The Big Red got a run back in the bottom of the fourth before a two-run home run from Sam Kaplan tied the game again at 6-all.

Jake Bold answered with a solo blast in the next half frame while Granet added on with an RBI knock. A home run by Jakobi Davis got Cornell within one, 8-7, in the sixth.

Vinci's second home run of the game was a towering blast in the top of the seventh that brought in three and extend Princeton's advantage to four, 11-7.

Cornell tacked on a single run in the bottom of the seventh but could only muster two hits in the eighth and ninth.

Jacob Faulkner struck out the last two hitters to collect his sixth save of the season. Jackson Emus struck out six over five innings to earn the victory.

Scannell led the Tigers with three of Princeton's 14 hits while Vinci had five RBI. It was Cornell's first game at Booth Field.
