Vinci Homers Twice, But Baseball Falls To Seton Hall

A two-run double by Max Viera got the Pirates on the board in the top of third, but Princeton quickly countered in their half of the inning.
After a Kevin Blowers single and Matt Scannell walk, Eric Marasheski doubled down the left field line to score Blowers. A sacrifice fly by Brendan Cumming tied the game at 2-all before Scott Bandura ripped a two-run four-bagger over the right field fence to make it 4-2.
Vinci's first home run came in the fifth frame extended Princeton's lead to four, 6-2.
Seton Hall jumped back in front with five runs in the sixth stanza with Status Pokrovsky's RBI single putting the Pirates on top.
A fielders' choice tied the game in the bottom of the sixth.
Vinci's second home run went over the scoreboard, totaling 405 feet. That two-run blast gave the home team a 9-7 advantage.
Seton Hall retook the lead with a five-run inning in the top of the eighth with a two-run knock from Mark McNelly highlighting the rally.
A Nick DiPietrantonio RBI single made it 12-10 in the ninth. Princeton brought the tying run to the plate but couldn't finish the comeback.
Scott Bandura had three hits and is on an eight-game hitting streak which features six multi-hit contests. Jake Bold also had three hits and three runs while Vinci had four RBI. Will Sword, making his first collegiate start, struck out three hits and allowed just two runs in five innings.
Princeton will head to Philadelphia for a three-game set with Penn. The Tigers and Quakers will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 11:30 a.m., before a single game on Sunday at 12 p.m.
