Baseball Travels To Philadelphia For Crucial Ivy Series at Penn

PRINCETON – The Princeton Baseball Team heads to Philadelphia to take on the Penn Quakers in a crucial three-game Ivy League set beginning Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
The Tigers and Quakers will take part in a doubleheader Saturday with a single game at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
Princeton is 10-14 this season with victories over Georgia, Duke, Richmond, Cincinnati, SC Upstate, Dartmouth and Harvard. The Tigers are currently among five teams in the Ivy League that are 4-2 in conference action with Penn, Columbia, Yale and Harvard.
Scott Bandura leads the Tigers in hitting at .385, hits (37), on-base percentage (.459) and stolen bases (nine). After not having a hit in his first two games, the junior is hitting .420 since with hits in 18 of 20 contests. He currently is on an eight-game hitting streak with six multi-hit outings.
Eric Marasheski is second on the squad with a .330 mark and currently on a seven-game hitting streak. He paces the Tigers with 10 doubles while adding two triples. Nick DiPietrantonio is also hitting over .300 at .313 as he has an eight-game hitting streak going.
Kyle Vinci not only leads the Ivy League in home runs with 12, but he is also among the country's leaders, sitting 16th overall. He's also third in home runs per game (0.55), just three-tenths behind the NCAA leader in Florida's Jac Caglianone (.58). Vinci's 29 RBI is the best on Princeton as his .736 slugging percentage, which would be the single-season program record by 25 points. His slugging percentage puts him 62nd in the NCAA while his 1.32 RBI per game is 52nd.
Brendan Cumming is the 61st toughest player to strike out in the nation, striking out just once per 10.7 at bats. Marasheski is 57th in doubles per game (0.42) while Bandura is 70th in hits per game (1.54) and 100th in batting average.
Justin Kim has team-best 2.73 ERA with four wins in 10 appearances out of the bullpen. In 26 1/3 innings, he's allowed just 16 hits and has struck out 21 hitters. The freshman is 25th in the country in hits per nine innings (5.47) and 64th in victories.
Jacob Faulkner has four saves along with 20 strikeouts in 28 innings while Tom Chmiewlewski leads the team with 34 punchouts in 31 1/3 frames.
Penn is 14-10 this season with wins over Lamar, Nicholls State, Tulane, Villanova, UMass, Lehigh and Harvard. Davis Baker paces the Quakers with a .389 average while Wyatt Henseler and Ben Miller's six home runs each top the squad. Penn's' pitching staff has a 4.11 ERA with their top three starters in Owen Coady (2.06), Cole Zaffiro (2.81) and Ryan Dromboski (3.58) posting ERAs under 3.60.
