Men’s Track & Field Seeks to Complete Heps Triple Crown

Philadelphia, PA - 2022-23 Ivy League champions in cross country and indoor track, the Princeton University men's track and field team will look to complete the Heps triple crown by claiming the outdoor track title this weekend. Competition begins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 6th at Franklin Field on the campus of Penn University.
The Tigers earned first place at the 2022 Ivy League Outdoor Championships, completing the Heps triple crown for the tenth time in school history.
The Tigers earned Ivy Champion titles, in twelve events including Aviram Schwarzbard in the long jump, Sondre Guttormsen in the Pole Vault, Daniel Duncan in the 100m and 200m, Chris Paige in the 400m hurdles, Michael Phillippy in the 400m, Sam Rodman in the 800m, Ed Trippas in the 3000m Steeplechase, CJ Licata in the Shot Put, and Jefferey Hollis in the high jump. The 4x400m relay team of the team of William Doyle, Ladislav Töpfer, Andersen Dimon, and Michael Phillippy along with the 4x100m relay team of Simang'aliso Ndhlovu, Kaden Reynolds, Daniel Duncan, and Greg Sholars were also 2022 Outdoor Ivy Champions.
In 2022, Daniel Duncan was also named the Most Outstanding Track Performer for his showing at last years' outdoor championship.
The Tigers were ranked 53rd overall in the latest USTFCCCA rating index, with the orange and black holding three top-50 marks in the nation including Sondre Guttormsen in the pole vault (5.90 m) ranking No. 1, Nicholas Bendtsen in the 5000m (13:35.15) ranking No. 24, and Duncan Miller in the 1500m (3:40.61) ranking No. 45.
Notably, Guttormsen's mark of 5.90m at the Texas Invitational will now stand as a new Ivy league record, a new No. 1 all time performance for Princeton, ranks first in the NCAA for 2023, a new Norwegian Record, and New World Lead.
