No. 3 Heavies Have Stellar Day 1 at IRAs

WEST WINDSOR – The No. 3 Princeton Men's Heavyweight Rowing Team had a stellar first day at the IRA Racing Championships on Mercer Lake.
Princeton's 1V had an impressive heat, leading throughout en route to placement in the A/B Semifinals. The Tigers crossed the line at 5:35.67, over six seconds in front of second place Harvard (5:41.73). Wisconsin was third at 5:46.70 to secure the third spot in the next stage. The Semifinal will be Saturday at 8:02 a.m.
The 2V advanced to its A/B Semifinal on Saturday, crossing the line at 5:50.67, behind only Brown (5:45.80). Third-place Penn was eight seconds (5:58.69) behind Princeton. The Tigers will go off at 8:18 a.m.
3V collected a third-place finish in its heat (5:57.64) behind Harvard and Washington. The 3V repechages were cancelled because of weather on Friday which sets up the Semifinals on Saturday. Princeton will race at 8:34 a.m.
Princeton's varsity four rowed at 6:31.30 in its time trial, good for 17th out of 31 boats. Its semifinals were cancelled on Friday afternoon which means it will race in the third final at 10:10 a.m. tomorrow.
