PRINCETON, N.J. – Ivy League play continues for the Princeton University women's volleyball team with a pair of upcoming home matches, first against Brown on Oct. 4 then Yale on Oct. 5.
Last Time Out
The Tigers took down the University of Pennsylvania inside Rockwell Gymnasium on Oct. 28, 3-1 (24-26, 25-23, 25-21, 25-12).
Head Coach Sabrina King
The Tigers are led by Sabrina King, who enters her 13th season as head coach. She has guided Princeton to five Ivy League titles, three NCAA Tournament appearances and has been named Ivy Coach of the Year three times. Throughout her tenure as head coach, King has coached four Ivy League Players of the Year and 44 All-Ivy honorees. King is currently sitting on 196 career victories, requiring four more to reach 200. A member of the Class of 2001 at Princeton, she won three Ivy titles as a player, was the 1999 Ivy Player of the Year and was a three-time All-Ivy selection.
Chaney's Strong Start To 2024
Sophomore Kamryn Chaney has gotten off to a strong start in 2024 as she leads the Ivy League in points-per-set (4.70), and kills (4.02), ranking 40th and 49th nationally. Chaney also ranks fourth in the Ivy League in service aces (0.34).
A Historic Performance By Chaney
Chaney delivered a historic performance against High Point on Sept. 21. She recorded 34 kills, 15 assists, two blocks and one service ace. Chaney's 34 kills were the most by an Ivy League player since Oct. 11, 2014, when Penn's Maddie Lord had 23 against Brown. According to available records, her 34 kills are tied for the second-most kills in a match by an Ivy League player. Only Ashley Dean of Dartmouth has had more, when she had 35 against Harvard on Oct. 21, 2000.
Second-Highest In The Country
Chaney's 34 kills are the second-most kills in a five-set match by any player in 2024. Only Hawaii's Caylen Alexander has recorded more, as she tallied 38 against Texas State on Sept. 14.
Chaney Named Ivy Player Of The Week
In the Tigers' three matches at the Penn State Invitational, Chaney led the team in kills with 56, digs with 37 and recorded 10 blocks along with five service aces. She averaged 4.31 kills-per-set, 2.85 digs-per-set and 0.77 blocks-per-set. Against St. John's on Sept. 14, Chaney had career and match-highs in kills (25), digs (16) and blocks (seven). Earlier that morning, Chaney also had a double-double against Duke with 19 kills, 15 digs and two service aces. Against the No. 3 Nittany Lions on Sept. 15, she recorded 12 kills, six digs and three service aces.
Two Of The Highest Assist Totals In The Nation
Along with being a career-high and the most assists in a match by an Ivy League player in 2024, senior Gracie Wood's 59 assists against UMBC were the 15th-most assists in a five-set match this season. Her 58 assists against High Point were the 19th most assists.
Scalamandre's Impact
Junior Lucia Scalamandre, a two-time All-Ivy honoree and the 2022 Ivy Rookie of the Year, ranks seventh in the conference in blocks-per-set (0.93) and ninth in hitting percentage (.317).
Assist Leader
Sophomore Sydney Draper, the 2023 Ivy League Rookie of the Year, ranks second in the Ivy League in assists-per-set (8.82)
Onyechi Off To A Strong Start
Freshman Jackie Onyechi ranks third in the Ivy League in hitting percentage (.392) and eighth in blocks-per-set (0.92).
Villanova Classic All-Tournament Team
Sophomore duo Sydney Bold and Erin McNair were named to the Villanova Classic All-Tournament Team.
Bold recorded 36 digs, 21 assists and three service aces in the Tigers' three matches. She had her first career double-double against Loyola with 18 digs and a career-high 10 assists to go with two service aces. Bold also tallied 11 digs, six assists and one service ace against Villanova. Additionally, she finished with seven digs and five assists against the Monarchs.
McNair totaled 31 kills, 21 digs, three blocks and two service aces. Against the Greyhounds she recorded a career-high 15 kills, five digs, and one block while she tallied 10 digs, eight kills and two service aces against ODU. Against Villanova, McNair had eight kills, six digs and two blocks.
Scouting Brown
Brown is 3-7 overall and 0-1 in Ivy play. Most recently, the Bears fell to Yale on Sept. 28 inside the Pizzitola Sports Center, 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-16)

Yale, the 2023 Ivy League Champions, are 6-3 overall and 1-0 in Ivy play after its victory over Brown on Sept. 28. Prior to facing the Tigers, the Bulldogs take on the University of Pennsylvania at 7 p.m. on Oct. 4 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
