PRINCETON, N.J. – Returning to its home course, the Princeton men's cross country team will compete in the Princeton Fall Classic on Friday, October 18th.
Princeton will host a field of 22 teams as the men's 8k kicks off at 11:15 a.m. on the Meadows Campus course.
About the Tigers
Princeton continued to top the Mid-Atlantic Region in the October 8th USTFCCCA rankings, also picking up a no. 17 ranking in the national coaches' poll. Head Coach Jason Vigilante also received an individual ranking of 13th nationally.
The Tigers most recently competed at the Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wis. on September 27th, taking ninth place in a field of 24 teams with 275 points.
Myles Hogan was the top finisher for Princeton, clocking in at 23:58.6 for 26th overall.
Jackson Shorten was the second Tiger to cross the finish line, clocking in at 24:09.4 for 43rd place after outpacing 24 runners during the final split.
Weston Brown (24:12.7), Daniel O'Brien (24:13.8) and Nicholas Bendtsen (24:43.5) also scored for Princeton, taking 50th, 53rd and 103rd place respectively.
Shorten and Hogan's performances each followed up strong performances at the New Jersey Jam on September 6th, including a second-place finish for Shorten (16:40.8) and a fourth-place finish for Hogan (16:44.0), as both juniors look to continue their strong season.
Sophomore Collin Boler took first place in the New Jersey Jam, finishing the 5.6k with a time of 16:40.5, as he led Princeton to a near-perfect score of 16.
Looking Back at Last Season
Princeton won its 24th Ivy League Cross Country Championship in 2023, also finishing 11th at the NCAA Championships.
Returning senior Nicholas Bendtsen was the top finisher for Princeton, placing fourth and earning him First-Team All-Ivy honors with a time of 24:08.5. At the NCAA Championships, Bendtsen finished 29th overall and earned All-America honors.
At Mid-Atlantic Regionals, senior Dan O'Brien 12th finished with a time of 29:47.2 to earn All-Region Honors. O'Brien also earned Second Team All-Ivy honors after finishing 11th in the XC Ivy Heps with a time of 24:24.7.
The Tigers have welcomed six new cross country runners in the Class of 2028 including Steven Hergenrother, Avery Keith, Jacob Nenow, Alex Niemiec, and brothers Franco and Marcello Parra.
About Coach Vigilante
Jason Vigilante is in his second season as head coach and 13th season overall with the Tigers.
Vigilante, the 2023 Ivy League Coach of the Year, has helped the Tigers win seven Ivy League Cross Country Championships (2012, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023) and claim five Triple Crowns (2014-15, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2021-22, 2023-24).
He was named head coach of the program on August 9, 2023.
