PRINCETON, N.J. – Looking to build on its string of strong performances this season, the Princeton women's cross country team will compete in the 2024 Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 2.
The women's 6k will begin at 11:00 a.m. on the Meadows Campus course at Princeton University, with the men's 8k beginning at noon.
About the Tigers
Most recently, the Tigers competed in the Princeton Fall Classic on their home course, taking eighth place with a score of 202.
Sophomore Anna McNatt finished first for Princeton, taking 18th place with a time of 20:10.2 for a new personal best.
Alexis Allen took 30th place overall with a new personal best (20:21.5), while a pair of freshmen, Emma De Jong and Meg Madison, took 49th (20:45.0) and 54th (20:49.4), respectively. Olivia Martin rounded out the Tiger scorers, clocking in at 20:50.9 for 56th place and a new personal record.
The combination of McNatt, Madison, De Jong, Martin and Allen has been consistent for the Tigers this season. McNatt has scored in every meet for the Tigers, while Allen, De Jong and Martin have scored in three of four each on the season.
Senior Mena Scatchard has dominated also, finishing first for Princeton in three meets including the Paul Short Run (20:15.3), the Spiked Shoe Invite (20:25.2), and the New Jersey Jam (4k - 14:09.1). Her performances helped the Tigers to third place finishes at both Paul Short and Spiked Shoe, and a first place finish at the New Jersey Jam.
In the October 21st USTFCCCA polls, Princeton took the 5th spot in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
The Tigers enter championship season after placing second at the 2023 Ivy League Cross Country Championships. In 2023, Scatchard was named Second-Team All-Ivy after placing 14th (21:29.9) in the race.
Princeton also took sixth at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals in 2023, with Scatchard placing 35th (20:54.0).
Princeton won its last Ivy League title in 2015 with nine total.
Brad Hunt is entering his ninth season as head coach, and has coached five student-athletes to First Team All-Ivy honors (most recently Fiona Max in 2023), 12 to Second Team All-Ivy honors, and 18 to All-Region honors.
