Men's Cross Country to Compete in NCAA Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. – Qualifying with a second place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals last weekend, the Princeton men's cross country team will travel to Madison, Wis. to compete in the NCAA Championships on Saturday, November 23rd. The men's race will begin at 11:10 a.m. ET.
About the Tigers
The Tigers enter the NCAA Regionals ranked second in the Mid-Atlantic in the latest USTFCCCA polls. Princeton also picked up the 18th spot in the national polls while coach Jason Vigilante remains ranked 13th.
At the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals on November 15th, Princeton placed second with a score of 80, tying Georgetown but winning on head-to-head matchups. Junior Myles Hogan was the top finisher for the Tigers, claiming seventh place overall with a time of 29:42.8.
Nicholas Bendtsen finished in 10th place with a time of 29:50.3, while Jackson Shorten took the 14th spot with a mark of 29:57.2. The final two scorers, Harrison Witt and Connor McCormick, took 22nd place and 27th place respectively, clocking in at 30:17.1 and 30:21.6.
Weston Brown (30:40.4) and Collin Boler (30:43.4) were pushers for Princeton, claiming 33rd and 34th place.
Before regionals, Princeton won the Ivy Championship on its home course with a score of 51. Hogan was the top Tiger finisher again, taking fifth place with a time of 23:05.4. His performance earned him a spot on the First Team All-Ivy.
Nicholas Bendtsen clocked in at 23:10.7 for 8th place overall, Connor McCormick finished with a time of 23:14.9 for 11th place and Jackson Shorten came in at 23:24.4 for 13th. Harrison Witt rounded out the Tiger scorers in 14th place with a time of 23:24.9.
For their efforts, Bendtsen, McCormick, Shorten and Witt were all named to the Second Team All-Ivy.
Hogan has been dominant for Princeton this season, finishing first for the Tigers in four of their five meets this season.
Following the championships, Vigilante and his staff were named the 2024 Ivy League Coaching Staff of the Year.
Looking Back at Last Season
Princeton won its 24th and third-consecutive Ivy League Cross Country Championship in 2023, also finishing 11th at the NCAA Championships.
Returning senior Nicholas Bendtsen was the top finisher for Princeton, placing fourth and earning him First-Team All-Ivy honors with a time of 24:08.5. At the NCAA Championships, Bendtsen finished 29th overall and earned All-America honors.
At Mid-Atlantic Regionals, senior Dan O'Brien 12th finished with a time of 29:47.2 to earn All-Region Honors. O'Brien also earned Second Team All-Ivy honors after finishing 11th in the XC Ivy Heps with a time of 24:24.7.
The Tigers have welcomed six new cross country runners in the Class of 2028 including Steven Hergenrother, Avery Keith, Jacob Nenow, Alex Niemiec, and brothers Franco and Marcello Parra.
About Coach Vigilante
Jason Vigilante is in his second season as head coach and 13th season overall with the Tigers.
Vigilante, the 2023 Ivy League Coach of the Year, has helped the Tigers win seven Ivy League Cross Country Championships (2012, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023) and claim five Triple Crowns (2014-15, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2021-22, 2023-24).
He was named head coach of the program on August 9, 2023.
