St. Rose Records First Career Double-Double in Loss to Duquesne

PITTSBURGH – Despite a double-double from Madison St. Rose, the Princeton Women's Basketball Team fell to the Duquesne Dukes, 76-66, at the UMPC Cooper Fieldhouse on Monday evening.
St. Rose recorded her first career double-double with 22 points and a career-high 12 rebounds, adding two steals and two assists. Skye Belker contributed 14 points including a career-best four treys.
Duquesne began the fourth quarter with a 14-0 run, turning around a six-point deficit to an eight-point lead, 70-62, with 4:49 to go. The Tigers got within six but couldn't get any closer.
Even at 10-all, a bucket from Tabitha Amanze and three-pointer by Cristina Parrella on the next possession put the Tigers up five, 15-10. This trey at the end of the first frame gave the Tigers a 21-16 lead after 10 minutes.
A 12-2 push by the Dukes in the second quarter put them in front, 28-23, with six minutes remaining in the first half. Duquesne held its advantage and led 40-36 at halftime.
Even at 50-all, Princeton ripped off nine of 11 to jump in front, 59-52 after a bucket by Olivia Hutcherson in the third quarter. The Dukes cut into their deficit, but St. Rose hit this three at the end of the quarter.
Fadima Tall had six points and eight rebounds in her first career start while Parrella had seven points off the bench and was a team-best +5.
Megan McConnell led all scorers with 24 points for the Dukes in the win.
Princeton heads to DePaul on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
