Women’s Hockey Picks Up First Conference Victory In Win Over Harvard
November 08, 2024 | Women's Ice Hockey
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Princeton women's hockey team was back on the road in search of its first ECAC win in a matchup against the Harvard Crimson. Looking to make noise early, the Tigers got a spark from a goal just past the two minute mark from Jane Kuehl.
The Tigers kept Harvard off the board in the first period as Jennifer Olnowich made three stops in net.
To start the second period, Emerson O'Leary added to the lead by taking advantage of a Princeton power play with Gabby Kim and Kuehl getting the assists.
The third period brought the dramatics as Princeton was back on the power play and Katherine Khramtsov tipped the puck into the net capitalizing on the chaos in front of the Crimson goaltender.
Harvard fought to get back in the game as Gwynn Lapp scored with just under 10 minutes to play for the Crimson's second goal. In the final minutes of the game, Harvard was on the power play and added to their total with less than 30 seconds remaining in regulation.
Princeton was able to hold the two goal advantage and pick up their first conference win of the season with a 5-3 victory. The Tigers outshot the Crimson 40-19 on goal and Olnowich made 16 saves. O'Leary and Kuehl paced Princeton with three points apiece.
The Tigers will head to Dartmouth to take on the Big Green on Saturday with puck drop scheduled for 3:00 PM.
