Men's Track and Field Begins Indoor Season with Strong Showing at Rutgers Holiday Classic

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Taking first place in six events, the Princeton men's track and field team began the indoor season with the Rutgers Holiday Classic in New York City on Friday.
A trio of Tigers swept the podium in the 3000m with Harrison Witt claiming first with a time of 8:12.04. Jacob Nenow came in second with a mark of 8:14.66, while first-year Marcello Parra clocked in at 8:20.81 for third.
Parra also claimed first in the mile, running 4:10.22. Nenow again joined him on the podium with a time of 4:15.03 for third place.
In the DMR, the Tiger squad of Steven Hergenrother, Karl Dietz, Franco Parra and Sam Rodman took first place with a time of 10:08.6.
Rodman also won the 1000m, running 2:25.80
Karl Dietz won the 600m with a time of 1:20.42, which puts him in the sixth spot all-time in program history.
Joe Licata claimed gold in the shot put with a mark of 18.54, which ranks fourth in program history. Casey Helm also made the podium with 17.70 for third.
Avery Shunneson took second in the weight throw, recording a mark of 19.05.
Zachary Della Rocca took third in the 60m dash, running a blazing time of 6.90.
Three Tigers set new personal bests in the season opener. Easton Tan ran a 7.10 60m for a PR, while Joey Grant also beat his all-time best in the 300m with a mark of 34.18. Vijay Krishnamoorthi also hit a new personal best with a 2:29.03 time in the 1000m.
