Detroit Pistons Sign Tosan Evbuomwan ’23 To 10-Day Contract

DETROIT – The NBA journey for Princeton University men's basketball team alumnus Tosan Evbuomwan '23 continues as he signed a 10-day contact with th Detroit Pistons Tuesday.
Evbuomwan, the only Ivy League player on an NBA roster, is coming off a 10-day contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, signed on Jan. 30. He appeared in four games with the Grizzlies, a stint highlighted by his game-high 12 rebounds, three assists and three points in 29:28 minutes against the Boston Celtics on Feb. 4. Evbuomwan also handed out six assists to just one turnover during his time with Memphis. Additionally, Evbuomwan appeared in seven preseason games for the Detroit Pistons ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season and made three starts.
The Pistons are in action next against the Los Angeles Lakers at 10:30 p.m. EST/7:30 p.m. PST on Feb. 13 in Los Angeles, California, inside Crypto.com Arena.
Previously, Evbuomwan had been playing for the Motor City Cruise of the NBA G League, affiliate of the Detroit Pistons. In 29 games combined between the NBA G League Showcase and regular season, Evbuomwan averaged 15.1 points-per-game on 56.3% shooting from the field along with 8.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists. He also recorded 26 blocks and 20 steals. In his final game for the Cruise, Evbuomwan finished with 22 points 10-for-16 shooting, 13 rebounds and two assists against the Long Island Nets on Jan. 25.
One of the most storied players in program history, Evbuomwan was named to the NCAA South Region All-Tournament Team after leading the Tigers to the Sweet Sixteen in 2022-23. As a senior he was also named National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 13 First Team, Ivy League Tournament Most Outstanding Player, Ivy Madness All-Tournament Team, Unanimous Ivy League First Team, Academic All-Ivy League, College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District and London Basketball Classic MVP. Evbuomwan was also the 2022 Unanimous Ivy League Player of the Year and named First Team All-Ivy and All-District honors as a junior.
Evbuomwan also left his mark on the record book at Princeton as his 161 assists in 2022-23 tied the program record for most assists in a season, and his 323 career assists rank No. 6 on the Tigers' all-time list for assists. Evbuomwan also joined the 1,000-point club in 2022-23, and his 1,033 points rank No. 34 all-time in school history.
