Baseball Takes Down UNC Wilmington, 2-1

WILMINGTON – Jake Koonin's RBI double in the fourth inning proved to the difference as the Princeton Baseball Team took down the UNC Wilmington Seahawks, 2-1, on Saturday.
After getting a runner in scoring position in the second inning, the Tigers came through one frame later as Nick DiPietrantonio brought home Tommy Googins with a base hit through the left side.
With one out in the fourth, Jordan Kelly singled and then came around to score on the double from Koonin.
Justin Kim, the Princeton starting pitcher, retired nine of 10 hitters before a fielding error gave UNC Wilmington its first run in the sixth inning.
Kim finished off six innings, scattering three hits.
UNC Wilmington's best threat came in the eighth as it loaded the bases with no out. Jacob Faulkner got a strikeout, fielder's choice and a ground out to escape the jam.
In home half of the ninth, Faulkner struck out the side to finish off the victory.
Princeton goes for the series victory Sunday at 1 p.m.
