Baseball Drops Close Game at UNC Wilmington, 5-3

WILMINGTON – The Princeton Baseball Team dropped a close 5-3 decision to the UNC Wilmington Seahawks on Sunday afternoon.
Nick Pietrantonio hit a solo blast in Princeton's first at-bat to get the Tigers on the board. Two bases loaded walks gave the home team the lead in the bottom of the first.
The Tigers put a runner in scoring position in the fourth frame but couldn't get him home. Two wild pitches gave UNC Wilmington its third and fourth runs of the contest.
With one out in the seventh, Kyle Vinci singled and Jordan Kelly walked. Jake Koonin would then bring home both on a double down the left field line to get the Tigers within one, 4-3.
A wild pitch gave the Sharks an insurance tally in the eighth. The Tigers could not muster a rally in the ninth.
Andrew D'Alessio threw three scoreless innings in relief in the loss. Princeton will head to the University of North Carolina next weekend.
