On To The Final! No. 3 Princeton Defeats No. 2 Harvard to Advance to CSA Championship Match
March 02, 2024 | Women's Squash
Winning five of the first seven matches off court, the No. 3-ranked Princeton women's squash team was a 5-4 winner over No. 2 Harvard in a CSA semifinal on Saturday at the Specter Center in Philadelphia.
It's Princeton's first trip to the CSA final since 2020, and the Tigers will be in pursuit of their first CSA team title since 2009. The win also broke a 14-match winning streak for Harvard against Princeton since the Tigers' last win over the Crimson in 2013, and it ended Harvard's run of eight straight CSA national titles.
On Sunday, Princeton will take on the last team other than Harvard to win a CSA national title in Trinity, which won in 2014. The 2:30 p.m. match will have live scoring available here and live video available here.
Princeton's wins on the way to the semifinal victory came from Caroline Spahr, who won in three games at ninth position, India Stephenson, who battled back from down two games to one to win in five at sixth position, Molly Chadwick, who swept her match at seventh, Charlotte Bell, who won the last two games at fourth position to win in four, and then from rookie Sonya Sasson, who had the win at eighth position in three games to get Princeton to five wins.
