Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Yale

PRINCETON – The Princeton Baseball Team collected a split during its Ivy League doubleheader against the Yale Bulldogs.
Game 1 – Princeton 4, Yale 3
The Tigers got the scoring started as Kyle Vinci scored on an attempted pickoff at first base in the second inning.
Nick DiPietrantonio ripped a solo home run to center field in the fourth as the Tigers went up 2-0. Yale tied the game in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Davis Hanson and throwing error.
Matt Scannell's RBI knock put Princeton in front for good in the seventh frame. The home team added an insurance run on a double play in the eighth.
Yale got a run-scoring double from Max Imhoff in the ninth and brought the winning run to the plate, but a pop-up ended the contest and secured the win for Princeton.
Matt Scannell had two hits to lead the Tigers. Justin Kim threw six innings and allowed one earned run while Jacob Faulkner corralled the win with three relief frames.
Game 2- Yale 22, Princeton 2
After an RBI groundout by Jordan Kelly put the Tigers in front, Yale scored a run in the third, three in the fourth and another run in the fifth inning to go ahead, 6-2.
The Bulldogs put the game away with seven runs each in the sixth and seventh innings. Princeton finished with seven hits in the game.
Princeton and Yale finish the series Sunday with first pitch set for 12 p.m.
