Baseball Continues Homestand With Penn This Weekend

PRINCETON – Another huge Ivy League series is on tap at Clarke Field as the Princeton Baseball Team host the Penn Quakers this weekend.
The Tigers and Quakers will do a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 11:30 a.m. before a single contest at 12 p.m. on Sunday. Prior to the game on Sunday, the Tigers will honor the Class of 2024.
Princeton is 10-20 this season with wins over UNC Wilmington, Navy, Old Dominion, VUC, Cornell, Yale, Brown and Harvard. Jake Bold continues to lead the team in hitting (.298), walks (26) and on-base percentage (.439) while adding four home runs and 13 RBI. Jake Koonin paces the offense in RBI (30), slugging (.523) and stolen bases (six). Koonin has reached base in all but three games.
Jacob Faulkner has been outstanding out of the bullpen for the Tigers, producing a 3.86 ERA in 14 outings, striking out 29 in 37 1/3 innings. Justin Kim (4.66 ERA) and Sean Episcope (7.03 ERA) have gone at least six innings in each of their last four starts. Episcope's 36 strikeouts in 32 innings leads the team.
Columbia sits at the top of the Ivy League baseball standings at 9-3 followed by Cornell at 8-4. Penn, Yale and Princeton are all 6-6 with Dartmouth and Harvard right behind at 5-7. Brown is 3-9 in conference action. The top four teams will play in the Ivy League Tournament hosted by the No. 1 seed.
Penn is 14-18 this season with victories over Abilene Christian, USC Upstate, College of Charleston, Villanova, Lafayette, Lehigh, Brown, Yale and Cornell. The Quakers have four starters hitting over .300 in Wyatt Henseler (.347), Nick Spaventa (.325), Ryan Taylor (.322) and Davis Baker (.301). Henseler is 15th in the country in home runs with 15 and has posted a .347/.455/.790 slash line, adding 38 RBI and 38 runs scored. The Quakers are the defending Ivy League regular season and Tournament champions.
