2024 PRINCETON FIELD HOCKEY SCHEDULE
Another year. Another loaded schedule.
The Princeton field hockey team will be doing what it always does come the 2024 season, which is to say that the Tigers will not be shying away from anyone. Princeton's 2024 schedule includes eight teams from last year's NCAA tournament, including both of the teams that played for the national championship.
"We always want to challenge ourselves as much as we can," Princeton head coach Carla Tagliente says. "It's one of the hallmarks of our program, and we wouldn't want it any other way."
It's good that she feels that way, since her team will be jumping in quickly. The annual ACC-Ivy Crossover Challenge season-opening event will be held at Louisville this year, and Princeton will open on Sept. 6 against the host Cardinals, who reached the quarterfinals a year ago. That game will be followed two days later by a game against two-time defending NCAA champion North Carolina (who has also won five of the last six), and Penn will be there to play the same two teams on opposite days.
The trip to Kentucky will be the first of six straight weekends of Friday/Sunday games. The home opener comes up on the second of those, Friday, Sept. 13, against Miami (Ohio), who won a game in last year's NCAA tournament as well. Princeton will then take to the road to face Penn State that Sunday.
The other NCAA teams from last year on the non-league schedule are Rutgers (away, Sept. 22), NCAA runner-up Northwestern (home, Sept. 29), Syracuse (away, Oct. 6) and Maryland (home, Oct. 25).
Princeton opens its Ivy schedule at Penn on Sept. 20 and will also travel to Columbia (Sept. 27), Cornell (Oct. 4) and Harvard (Oct. 9) in its league games while hosting Brown (Oct. 11), Dartmouth (Oct. 27) and Yale (Nov. 2). Princeton will also host Delaware on Oct. 13.
The Tigers will travel to Monmouth for an Aug. 28 scrimmage, and the Ivy League tournament will be played Nov. 8-10 at the highest seed team.
