No. 3 Heavies Has Each Boat Advance To IRA Semifinals

WEST WINDSOR - The No. 3 Princeton Men's Heavyweight Team had each boat advance to their respective semifinals during day one of the IRA National Championships.
Princeton's 1V got the racing started, collecting a 5:36.59, 2.5 seconds behind Harvard (5:34.0) and almost seven seconds ahead of Boston University (5:43.2). Their semifinal is Saturday at 8:50 a.m. with Boston University, Yale, Brown, Washington and Dartmouth. The top three advance to the Grand Final on Sunday.
The Tigers' 2V won its heat at 5:44.59, 2.7 seconds clear of Yale (5:47.29) and will race at 9:20 a.m. in the semifinal B with Northeastern, Syracuse, Harvard, Brown and Cornell.
Head coach Greg Hughes' 3V corralled a 5:53.74. 3.3 seconds behind Brown (5:50.38), but almost three seconds ahead of Northeastern for third. That boat's semifinal is at 9:40 a.m. Saturday with Penn, Harvard, Cal., BU and Northeastern.
The 4+ nabbed the seventh best time of the time trial (6:11.48) to earn a spot in the semifinals. Later in the day, that group finished fourth in their semifinal and will race in their B Final at 11:20 a.m. Saturday.
