No. 3 Heavies Will Have Three Boats Race For IRA Gold on Championship Sunday

WEST WINDSOR – The Princeton Men's Heavyweight Team will have three boats racing for IRA gold tomorrow after today's semifinals performances.
The 1V started the action, collecting a second-place finish in its semifinal (5:29.1), just .4 seconds behind Washington (5:28.7). The Tigers was almost a full second in front of Yale (5:30.1) who led at the 500m and 1,000m marks. Brown, who won the Ivy League and Eastern Sprints title was fourth (5:33.6) and missed the Grand Final.
The Grand Final will feature Princeton, Washington, Yale, Cal, Harvard and Syracuse at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Head coach Greg Hughes' 2V won its semifinal with a 5:39.9, 2.2 seconds in front of Brown (5:42.23). Harvard earned the other Grand Final spot at 5:42.97. The other three Grand Final squads will be Washington, Cal and Dartmouth.
The 2V's last IRA medal was in 2017 (bronze) and its last gold came in 1998. The 2V final goes off at 10:50 a.m.
The Tigers' 3V corralled a second-place finish at 5:42.32 behind Cal (5:40.69) and in front of Harvard (5:46.29).
3V's 9:40 Grand Final will also have Washington, Brown and Dartmouth. The 3V's last medal was gold in 2016.
Princeton's 4+ won its B Final (6:28.84) by 1.2 seconds over Columbia (6:30.0) and 3.6 seconds over Harvard (6:32.45).
