Tigers went quickly on Monday night at the 2024 PWHL Draft, with Sarah Fillier '24 chosen first overall by New York and Claire Thompson '20 going third overall to Minnesota.Â
Already an Olympic gold medalist, a three-time IIHF World Champion, and one of the most decorated players in Princeton program history, Fillier can add the honor of No. 1 pick to that list. Fillier finished her Princeton career as a three-time All-American and three-time top-10 Patty Kazmaier Award finalist. She totaled 194 points, fourth-most all-time and the most for a Tiger since 1995, 93 goals, sixth-most all-time and just the second Princeton player this century to hit 90 goals, and 101 assists, second-most all-time and the most for a Tiger since 1995.Â

Thompson had the fifth-most points for a defender in program history, finishing with 87. Thompson and Fillier were teammates on the 2020 Princeton team that won the program's first ECAC Hockey tournament title, advancing to the NCAA tournament before the event was canceled due to the onset of the pandemic.
In the PWHL's first draft in 2023, Princeton saw Maggie Connors selected by Toronto in the 11th round. Four Tigers were on inaugural rosters for the league's first season, with Connors '23, Mariah Keopple (Montreal) '23, Rachel McQuigge (Ottawa) '22, and Thompson (New York), though Thompson did not play for New York, focusing on medical school this past season and entering the 2024 draft.Players Mentioned
