PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton men's track and field program will kick off 2025 with a trip down to Annapolis, Md. for a dual with Navy on Saturday, January 11th.Â
The Tigers opened the indoor season at the Rutgers Holiday Classic at the Armory in New York City on December 6.Â
A trio of Tigers swept the podium in the 3000m with Harrison Witt claiming first with a time of 8:12.04. Jacob Nenow came in second with a mark of 8:14.66, while first-year Marcello Parra clocked in at 8:20.81 for third. Parra also claimed first in the mile, running 4:10.22.Â
In the DMR, the Tiger squad of Steven Hergenrother, Karl Dietz, Franco Parra and Sam Rodman took first place with a time of 10:08.6. Rodman also won the 1000m, running 2:25.80. The time currently tops the D1 NCAA Qualifying List.Â
Karl Dietz won the 600m with a time of 1:20.42, which earned him the sixth spot all-time in program history.Â
Joe Licata claimed gold in the shot put with a mark of 18.54, which ranks fourth in program history. Licata's mark also ranks 7th currently on the D1 NCAA Qualifying List.Â
Last season, Princeton captured its ninth-consecutive and 25th all-time indoor Ivy Heps title with a score of 168, 53 points ahead of second-place Cornell.Â
Nicholas Bendtsen set an Ivy League Record in the 3000m with a time of 7:54.81, also taking first in the 5000m. Sam Rodman won the 800m, while Collin Boler claimed the title in the 1000m. In the field events, Greg Foster seized first place in the long jump. Philip Kastner earned the championship title in the Heptathlon with an impressive total of 5591 points, achieving first place in both the long jump and shot put events.
15 newcomes join the Tigers in the Class of 2028, including Jadon Spain, Jacob Emerson, Jon York, Dietz, Caden Simmons, Hergenrother, Franco Parra, Parra, Yuki Hojo, Avery Keith, Nenow, Charlie Sexton, Reed McFadden, Alex Niemiec and Paul Kuhner.Â
Head Coach Jason Vigilante is in his second season at the helm of the program and 13th season overall at Princeton. The 2023-24 Ivy Coach of the Year, who also picked up Coaching Staff of the Year honors during the cross country season this fall, will look to coach the Tigers to their sixth Triple Crown during his tenure.Â
