No. 13 Women’s Hockey Drops Contest To No. 6 Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y.- The Princeton women's hockey team took a trip back to New York to take on the No. 6 Cornell Big Red. In the weekend matchup of a strong offense versus strong defense, the latter came out on top as the Big Red secured a 6-1 win.
Claudia Yu scored early in the first period to get Cornell on the board to get out to a quick lead.
Katherine Khramtsov tipped the puck in as Princeton was on the power play, but the equalizer was waived off.
The Big Red pumped up its lead with two more goals coming in the second period from Katie Chan and Lindzi Avar.
Lucia DiGirolamo scored the first goal of the contest for the Tigers on a backhander to get by Cornell's Annelies Bergmann and spoil the shutout.
Cornell continued to attack and added three more in the third period starting with Lily Delianedis 43 seconds in. Avar scored her second of the game on the power play before Taylor Hyland finished out the night for Jen Olnowich.
Gabbie Rud tacked on the final tally to end the game for the Big Red.
Princeton will head to Hamilton, N.Y. to face the No. 5 Colgate Red Raiders Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM.
