10 Tigers Win Individual Events as Princeton Shines at Quaker Invitational

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – Winning 10 individual events and making a mark on the school records, the Princeton men's track and field team had a strong showing at the Quaker Invitational in Philadelphia on Saturday, January 18.
In the Heptathlon, Philip Kastner took first place with a total score of 5672, putting him in second all-time in program history. Kastner won the high jump (1.94), shot put (14.58) and pole vault (4.80) on his way to the top of the Heptathlon podium.
First-year Jadon Spain had a standout day in the 60m, running a blazing 6.77 prelim for 8th in program history and 88th on the NCAA qualifying list - one of the top times for his class year. Spain went on to win the final with a time of 6.85.
A trio of Tigers swept the 60 hurdles with Greg Foster taking first with a time of 7.89, tying his own 3rd place all-time record in Princeton history. Easton Tan was just behind him with a time of 7.95, moving up to the fifth position in program records. Yuki Hojo took third, running 8.16. Foster and Tan each recorded new PRs.
Jonathan York ran a swift 47.95 in the 400m to earn a spot in the top-10 all-time in school history, with the time also ranking 36th nationally.
In the shot put, Joe Licata threw 18.59 in the shot put for first place. Casey Helm won second with a new personal best with a mark of 18.26m, tying teammate Tyler Konopka for ninth all-time in the Princeton record books. Avery Shunneson also won the weight throw with a mark of 19.00m.
Hitting a new PR himself, Jackson Shorten ran a 4:05.96 mile to win first in the event.
In the 200m, Jackson Clarke landed in the top 20 of the NCAA qualifying list, running 21.11 for first place at the meet. Joey Gant ran 21.20 for second place and 26th nationally.
Steven Hergenrother ran an impressive 1:50.37 in the 800m, which currently ranks 17th in the NCAA.
Princeton will look to follow up today's performance next Saturday as the Tigers return to Philadelphia for the Penn 10 Elite.
