Men's Track and Field Returns to Philly for Penn 10 Elite

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton men's track and field program will return to Philadelphia for the Penn 10 Elite on Saturday, January 25.Â
The Tigers paid Penn a visit last weekend for the Quaker Invitational, where the Tigers won 10 individual events.Â
In the Heptathlon, Philip Kastner took first place with a total score of 5672, putting him in second all-time in program history and fifth on the current NCAA lists. First-year Jadon Spain had a standout day in the 60m, running a blazing 6.77 prelim for 8th in program history.Â
A trio of Tigers swept the 60 hurdles with Greg Foster taking first with a time of 7.89, tying his own 3rd place all-time record in Princeton history. Easton Tan was just behind him with a time of 7.95, moving up to the fifth position in program records. Yuki Hojo took third, running 8.16. Foster and Tan each recorded new PRs.Â
Jonathan York ran a swift 47.95 in the 400m to earn a spot in the top-10 all-time in school history.
Before the Quaker Invite, Princeton won a dual with Navy with a commanding score of 104-75, as 10 Tigers won individual events and Princeton swept the relays. Several Tigers also found themselves high up on the national NCAA D1 qualifying list in their respective events.
In the long jump, Foster had a mark of 7.83 for a program all-time second-best and a first place finish in the event. His time currently ranks fifth on the NCAA D1 qualifying list.
Joe Licata set a new personal best in the shot put with a mark of 19.18m to take first place in the event, also putting him at ninth nationally on the NCAA D1 qualifying list.Â
Xavier Donaldson won the 400m with a time of 47.56, which currently ranks 43rd nationally.Â
Before the Navy Dual, Princeton competed at the Rutgers Holiday Classic on Dec. 6 at the Armory in New York.Â
A pair of Tiger DMR squads took first and second at the meet, also landing high up on the national list. Steven Hergenrother, Karl Dietz, Franco Parra and Sam Rodman ran 10:08.06 for the eighth spot nationally. Witt, Joey Gant, Vijay Krishnamoorthi and Alex Niemiec were just behind them, running 10:08.22 for the ninth spot in the national rankings.Â
Last season, Princeton captured its ninth-consecutive and 25th all-time indoor Ivy Heps title with a score of 168, 53 points ahead of second-place Cornell.Â
Head Coach Jason Vigilante is in his second season at the helm of the program and 13th season overall at Princeton. The 2023-24 Ivy Coach of the Year, who also picked up Coaching Staff of the Year honors during the cross country season this fall, will look to coach the Tigers to their sixth Triple Crown during his tenure.Â
