A – About
The 2025 Princeton field hockey team has 24 players, 13 from America and 11 internationals, of which 10 are British. The Tigers return eight starters from last year’s team that went 14-6, won the Ivy League championship at a perfect 7-0 and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals. Princeton has six seniors, five juniors, seven sophomores and six freshmen.
B – Bulldogs vs. Tigers
Princeton and Yale meet for the 54th time. Princeton holds a 48-2-3 record against the Bulldogs.
C – Coaches’ Poll
Princeton has gone from 10th to 11th to ninth to eighth and eighth (this week) in the NFHCA coaches’ poll. Yale is ranked 16th this week by the coaches.
D – Defense
Princeton is allowing only 7.5 shots per game, which would be its lowest total for a full season since 2018 (6.0). Princeton has outshot its first eight opponents by a combined 100-60.
E – Ella
Ella Cashman ranks second on the team in goals and points.
F – Faulstich
Anna Faulstich is tied with Beth Yeager for the team lead with four assists.
G – Goals
Yale leads the Ivy League and is seventh in Division I in scoring offense at 3.67 per game. Princeton ranks 12th in Division I in goals-against, at 1.10 per game.
H – Hammo
Ella Hampson, one of Princeton’s three 2025 captains, has two goals in the last three games (including the game-winner against Maryland). Prior to that she had two goals in 58 career games.
I – Ivy League
This weekend will be Game 3 in the league race. Harvard and Cornell are currently 2-0, followed by Princeton, Yale, Penn and Brown at 1-1 and Columbia and Dartmouth at 0-2. This weekend’s schedule is, in addition to Princeton at Yale, has Cornell at Brown and Columbia at Dartmouth Friday and Penn at Harvard Saturday.
J – Just The Numbers
Beth Yeager is the only current player in Division I in the top five among career leaders in goals per game and points per game. She also ranks third among active players in points per game, third in total points, fourth in assists and fifth in goals. She needs one goal and one assist to become the fifth player in Princeton history with at least 50 career goals and 30 career assists.
K – Korners
Princeton has a 43-32 edge on its opponents in penalty corners through eight games.

L – Leaders
Princeton is led by three captains for the 2025 season: seniors Ella Hampson and Beth Yeager and junior Ella Cashman. Yeager is now the 18th player in program history to be a two-time captain.
M – Maryland
Princeton’s 2-1 win over Maryland Sunday was its fourth straight, making the current senior class the first in program history to go 4-0 against the Terps. In addition, Princeton and Maryland have now played 10 straight one-goal games.
N – New Haven
Princeton defeated Yale 2-1 in its last trip to New Haven, in 2023. Talia Schenck scored Princeton's first goal, assisted by Lydia Bills, in that game.
O – Offense
Princeton has scored eight goals in the last three games after scoring six in the first five.
P – Princeton Field Hockey
Princeton’s Ivy League championship a year ago was the 28th in program history, which is tied with Harvard women’s squash for the most by any Ivy women’s team in any sport in league history.
Q – Quite A Stat
Princeton has started at least two freshmen in every game since the start of the 2023 season.
R – RPI
Princeton is the No. 7 team in the current RPI rankings, while Yale is No. 11. Princeton’s three losses have come to the No. 1 (North Carolina), 4 (Harvard) and 6 (Syracuse) RPI teams. Princeton has defeated No. 14 Rutgers, No. 16 Maryland and No. 20 Penn, with games remaining after Yale against current Top 20 teams No. 3 Northwestern, No. 12 Cornell and No. 15 Monmouth.
S – Starting
Pru Lindsey made her first career start in the win over Maryland. Izzy Morgan, who started 18 games a year ago, made her first start in 2025 in the win over Maryland.
T – Traveling
Princeton is playing the second of four-straight away games, after last Sunday's game at Maryland and then a trip next weekend to Dartmouth and then No. 1 Northwestern. Princeton played six of its first seven games at home and finishes the regular season with four of its last five at home.
U – USA
Princeton was well-represented with USA Field Hockey this past summer. Beth Yeager, a 2024 Olympian, won a silver medal at the Pan Am Cup in Uruguay, scoring four goals in the tournament. Talia Schenck also won silver and also scored four goals, at the Junior Pan Am Games in Paraguay. Assistant coach Pat Harris was a silver medalist with the USA men’s team at the Pan Am Cup.
V – Vietnam
Princeton’s Clem Houlden and Molly Nye spent the summer in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam as part of the Coach For College program. Houlden taught biology and coached volleyball to middle schoolers, while Nye taught English and coached volleyball at a different middle school.
W – Wow
Princeton has seven players who have started every game of their career: Ella Cashman, Anna Faulstich, Clem Houlden, Saylor Milone, Ottilie Sykes, Caitlin Thompson, Beth Yeager.
X – X-Factor
Princeton had six players on the NFHCA preseason Watchlist: Ella Cashman, Anna Faulstich, Clem Houlden, Talia Schenck, Ottilie Sykes, Beth Yeager.
Y – Yeager
Beth Yeager is a three-time first-team All-American selection; no Ivy League player has ever been a four-time first-team All-American. She’s also a three-time Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year.
Z – Zinger
Princeton has not failed to reach the NCAA tournament in consecutive years since 1992-93. That streak will continue through this year, as the Tigers reached the NCAA quarterfinals a year ago.
