PRINCETON, N.J. – Defending Ivy League Champions, the Princeton women's cross country team, will return to Heps on Friday, October 31 as they chase a second-consecutive Ivy League Championship.
The championship meet will be held in Van Cortlandt Park, N.Y., with the women's 6k race starting at 11 a.m.
Heps History
Last year, at home at the Meadows Cross Country Course, the Princeton women claimed the program's 10th all-time Ivy Championship title and first since 2015. It was also the first cross country championship won under Head Coach Brad Hunt.
Four Tigers finished in the top-10 of the race last year, with scorers Anna McNatt, Meg Madison and Emma De Jong returning to compete for another title this year. Pushers Peyton Leigh and Olivia Martin both return as well.
McNatt finished third last year to earn First Team All-Ivy honors, while Madison took eighth for Second Team distinction.
Season in Review
The Tigers have been building all season, and currently sit ranked fifth in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
McNatt and Madison have been dominant, with each earning two Ivy Athlete of the Week awards for taking top-Tiger finishes.
Most recently, Princeton took second at the Fall Classic, falling by just two points behind Boise State. McNatt took silver in the field of over 250 runners, kicking out 19 runners in her second split and another three in the final 600m while setting a new personal best.
The Tigers have gone toe-to-toe with some of the best competition in the region and the nation, as they put up strong performances so far at Gans Creek, site of the NCAA Championships, Iona Paddy Doyle, site of Heps, and their own Fall Classic.
At Van Cortlandt earlier this year for Paddy Doyle, the Tigers got valuable course experience as they raced to a first-place finish with a near-perfect score of 19. Meg Madison cleared the finish line first by fifteen seconds, with the Tigers filling out six of the top-7 spots.
About Coach Hunt
The Tigers are led by Brad Hunt, in his 10th season at the helm of the cross country program. He earned 2024 Ivy Cross Country Coach of the Year honors after leading the squad to the championship title. He also picked up Mid-Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year honors in the outdoor track season.
