Second Period Offense Powers Princeton To Win Over Union
November 01, 2025 | Women's Ice Hockey
PRINCETON, N.J.- A second period offensive onslaught helped lead the way to the second win of the weekend for the Princeton women's hockey team. Four goals in a 14 minute span would help the Tigers overcome the Union Garnet Chargers and give them their third conference victory with a 5-2 final.
Mackenzie Alexander started the scoring just 46 seconds into the second as Issy Wunder got credited with the assist. Less than two minutes later, Catie Collins fired a laser of a shot that deflected off Hannah Fetterolf into the back of the net to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
The Garnet Chargers had an answer as Emma Fulawka scored to cut the Princeton advantage to one. The Tigers, however, were not done with their attack.
Gabby Kim scored her second goal of the weekend with Fetterolf and Ellie Dimatos with the helpers.
Union committed a penalty to put Princeton on the power play and the Tigers took advantage. Rosie Klein pushed the puck in towards the goal and Wunder sent it back up top to Alexander. Alexander ripped a shot to give her her second score of the contest.
With the two goals, Alexander extended her point streak to four straight games. The sophomore now has eight points in the last four and nine on the year.
Union worked to chip away with a power play goal of their own in the third period.
Looking to close the door for good, Princeton got the puck in the defensive zone and Teja Gatfield passed it off to Sawyer Fleming. Fleming rifled a shot to record her first career goal and give Princeton five goals in the matchup.
Alexander, Wunder and Fetterolf each had two points in the win and Uma Corniea 24 saves in net in her first win of the season.
