Sorokan Overtime Winner, Corniea Shutout Lead Women’s Hockey Past #10/11 Clarkson
November 07, 2025 | Women's Ice Hockey
PRINCETON, N.J.- The Princeton women's hockey team headed to overtime at Baker Rink on Friday night against the Clarkson Golden Knights locked in a 0-0 tie.
Princeton surged late in the game, putting 11 shots on net in the third to swing momentum in its favor before regulation ran out.
With 28 seconds down in overtime, Princeton won the face off and worked the puck around the ice. Riley Sorokan carried the puck in and wrapped around the back of the net eventually getting it past Holly Gruber to give the Tigers a 1-0 shutout victory over the Golden Knights.
Uma Corniea had a stellar showing between the pipes for Princeton, recording the third shutout of her career. The junior goaltender made 24 saves in net to keep Clarkson off the board. Corniea had faced the Golden Knights twice in her collegiate career, suffering narrow 1-0 defeats. This time, however, she was on the other side of the score, picking up a 1-0 victory of her own.
Sorokan's first career goal and Corniea's shutout helped lead Princeton to its first win over Clarkson since March 7, 2020 where the Tigers defeated the Golden Knights 5-1 in the ECAC semifinal.
Princeton is on a three game win streak and looks to keep it going against St. Lawrence tomorrow at 3:00 PM.
