In the rankings: Princeton stands No. 9 in both the latest USCHO and the latest USA Hockey/The Rink Live national rankings. ECAC Hockey has seven teams ranked in at least one of the two 15-team polls, in No. 8/8 Quinnipiac, No. 9/9 Princeton, No. 11/10 Clarkson, No. 10/11 Cornell, No. 14/RV Colgate, No. 15/14 Yale, and RV/No. 15 Brown.
Princeton in the polls: The No. 9 ranking is Princeton's highest since Oct. 17-18, 2022, when it was also No. 9 in both polls. It's the latest in the season Princeton has been as high as No. 9 in the polls since ending the 2019-20 season at No. 6 (Mar. 9-10, 2020).
ECAC Standings: One ECAC series is set for this weekend, with Union and RPI visiting Yale and Brown. With 22 standings points, Princeton holds a 2.5-point lead over second-place Clarkson (19.5) with Cornell (18) and Quinnipiac (17.5) as the top four and Colgate (16.5) in the fifth spot. The top four teams will get a bye to the quarterfinals and host that round.Â
Against Stonehill: The series with Stonehill began last season with two games in Massachusetts, which Princeton won 5-0 and 12-1 Nov. 29-30, 2024. Stonehill is 1-7-1 against the ECAC since it began play for the 2022-23 season. The lone win came against RPI on Nov. 25, 2022, and the ECAC is 7-0-0 against Stonehill since that win over RPI. The tie came against Brown on Oct. 21, 2022, and the team has had a loss each to Brown, Cornell and Dartmouth, two to Princeton and three to RPI. Princeton is 7-0-0 all-time against the NEWHA, going 2-0 against Stonehill last year, 3-0 against LIU with one game each in the 2021-22, 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, and 2-0 against Saint Anselm in a series in the 2019-20 season, with a combined score of 43-6.Â
Win streak: Princeton's seven-game winning streak is its longest since an eight-game run last season, from Nov. 27, 2024 to Jan. 10, 2025, which included the two-game sweep of Stonehill. If the Tigers sweep Stonehill again, the resulting nine-game streak would be the team's longest since a 12-game run from Nov. 27, 2015-Jan. 29, 2016.Â
Top line: Mackenzie Alexander has points in 10 of 15 games this season, and Princeton is 9-1 in those games. Alexander has seven goals and five assists for 12 points in the last seven games, all Princeton wins. Issy Wunder also has a seven-game point streak, scoring six goals and adding five assists for 11 points. Emerson O'Leary has points in three of the last four games on a goal and six assists. Over the last seven games, the top line has scored 45.6 percent (31 of 68) of the team's points.Â
Between the pipes: Uma Corniea has been in net for all of the last five games of the seven-game winning streak. During that time, she's twice been named ECAC Goalie of the Week and was the league's November Goalie of the Month. Over the last five games, Corniea has a .946 save percentage and a 1.78 GAA.
Stat Rankings: Entering the week, Princeton ranked sixth in the nation in scoring defense, allowing 1.80 goals per game, and eighth in scoring margin, outscoring opponents by an average of 1.07 goals per game. The team had the 10th-best power-play percentage, scoring on 22.9 percent of power plays. Individually, Mackenize Alexander ranked fourth at 0.80 goals per game and 11th at 1.40 points per game, while Uma Corniea was 11th in GAA (1.919) and 11th in save percentage (.936).
