PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton women's track and field team will ship up to Boston for the BC Eagle Elite Invitational and the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational on February 14 and February 15, respectively.
Last Time Out
- The Tigers last took the track last weekend at the Penn Classic in Philadelphia. Franziska Burchett set a new college best in the 60m prelim, running 7.76 before going on to take fifth place in the final. Shea Burke also set a new personal record in the 60mH, running 9.08.
- Before the Penn Classic, Princeton competed at the Penn State National Open on January 31st and February 1st.
- Mena Scatchard set a new program record in the 800m, running a blistering 2:03.26. The 800m is now Scatchard's fifth in the Princeton record book, as the senior also holds the program record in the mile, the 3000m, the 1500m and is a member of the all-time best 4x800m squad.
- Hannah Riggins was close behind Scatchard, finishing less than a second later with a time of 2:03.66. Both Riggins and Scatchard were under the previous 800 record of 2:04.44, set by Cecilia Barowski '16 at the NCAA championships in 2016.
- Julia Jongejeugd ran a blazing 8.50 in the pentathlon 60mH, tying the Princeton record in the event.
- Building on her 60mH performance, Jongejeugd earned a score of 3929 in the pentathlon, putting her at second-best in school history. Her score tops her own previous second-best score of 3899, set at the 2024 Heps, for a new personal record.
- Jazmyn Singh set a new college best in the 400m, running a blazing time of 54.68 for a new third-best in Princeton history.
- In the weight throw, Siniru Iheoma smashed her own personal record, throwing 18.58m / 60-11 ½. The mark bests her previous personal best of 17.48 / 57' 4¼.
- A Tiger squad of Mena Scatchard, Adelaide Asante, Peyton Leigh and Hannah Riggins set a new program record in the DMR at the Penn State National Open, running a blistering 11:04.51.
- Asante had a day, also taking third and setting a new PR in the 200m by clocking in at 24.47. Maisha Atkinson was behind her with a time of 24.64 for fifth.
- In the field events, Alysa Carrigan won the high jump with a mark of 1.73 / 5'8, setting a new college best.
Tigers on the NCAA Qualifying List
- Scatchard finds herself on the NCAA Qualifying List individually twice, coming in at 12th in the 800m from her Penn State National time and 20th in the mile (4:32.95), set at the Dr. Sander Scorcher. She also holds 21st in the 3000m with a time of 9:00.86, set at the BU Season Opener.
- Scatchard, Asante, Leigh and Riggins' DMR time of 11:04.51 currently ranks 8th nationally.
- Another Tiger DMR squad of Hannah Riggins, Jazmyn Singh, Paola Rodriguez, and Alexis Allen ranks 15th with a time of 11:17.58, set at the Dr. Sander Scorcher.
- Tessa Mudd currently holds 22nd in the pole vault with a mark of 4.36m/14' 3.5", set at the Penn 10 Elite.
- Georgina Scoot is on the list in two categories, holding 25th in the triple jump with a mark of 13.07m/42' 10.75", set at the Quaker Invitational, and 31st in the long jump with a mark of 6.26m/20' 6.5", set at the Princeton Navy Dual.
- Jongejeugd currently ranks 31st in the pentathlon with her Princeton record-breaking score of 3929. Mirtel Klaar is behind her in 47th with a time of 3840.
Looking Back
- Princeton is coming off an Ivy Cross Country Championship title win in November, the program's 10th all-time and first since 2015.
- During last year's indoor season, the Tigers took second place at Ivy Heps with a total of 134 points from four individual Ivy championships, one relay championship, and four new school records.
- The Tigers are led by Michelle Eisenreich, in her ninth season as head coach after joining the program in 2016. She has coached eight Tigers to All-America honors along with over 30 individual Ivy titles and multiple NCAA appearances.
