PRINCETON, N.J. – Closing out the regular season, the Princeton men's track and field team will head to Philadelphia and Boston once more for the Philadelphia Metro Meet and the BU Terrier DMR Challenge.
Last Time Out
- Last weekend, the Tigers split up to compete in the BC Eagle Elite Invitational and the BU Valentine Invitational in Boston. Part of the squad also traveled to Fayetteville, Arkansas for the Tyson Invitational.
- At the BU Valentine Invite on Friday, Harrison Witt ran a blazing 3:52.87 in the mile to set, crushing his own Ivy League and Princeton record of 3:56.12 set just weeks ago at the Penn 10 Elite meet. His time currently ranks 11th in the NCAA, and it improved upon his own personal record by nearly four seconds.
- For his efforts, Witt was named Ivy League Athlete of the Week on Tuesday - the first league weekly award of his career.
- Just behind Witt in the mile, Connor McCormick also bested his own second-best time in Princeton history with a new personal best of 3:56.40.
- At the Tyson Invitational, Jon York, Joey Gant, Karl Dietz and Xavier Donaldson set a new school record in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:07.16. The performance broke the previous Princeton record of 3:08.14, set by Gant, Jackson Clarke, Dietz and Donaldson recently at the Penn 10 Elite meet. The time is also set a new NCAA #28.
- In the 3000m, Jacob Nenow earned himself the fourth-best spot in the Princeton record books with a time of 7:55.55. Myles Hogan also landed in the school top-10 with a time of 7:57.26 for eighth all-time.
- Casey Helm also had a huge performance in the shot put, throwing a new personal best of 18.56m/60-10.75 for sixth all-time in the Princeton records.
Tigers on the NCAA Qualifying List
- Greg Foster currently ranks 14th nationally in the long jump with a mark of 7.83m/25' 8.25", set at the Navy Dual on January 11th.
- Philip Kastner is at 17th in the heptathlon with a score of 5672, set at the Quaker Invitational on January 18th.
- Joe Licata is at 18th in the shot put after throwing 19.18m/62' 11.25" at the Navy Dual. Casey Helm is behind him at 42nd after throwing 18.56m/60-10.75 at the Tyson Invitational.
- The York, Dietz, Gant and Donaldson 4x400 performance of 3:07.16 at the Tyson Invitational ranks 33rd nationally.
- Witt is now 11th nationally in the mile with his record-breaking time of 3:52.87 from the BU Valentine Invite. McCormick is behind him in 48th.
- Witt is also at 33rd in the 800m, with McCormick behind him in 46th based on their performances at the Penn Classic.
- Jackson Clarke is ranked 27th in the 200m with his time of 20.86, ran at the Penn Classic.
- Princeton was ranked 2nd in the Mid-Atlantic and first in the Ivy League in the latest USTFCCCA Regional Polls, behind only Penn State.
About the Tiger Coaches
- Head Coach Jason Vigilante is in his second season at the helm of the program and 13th season overall at Princeton. The 2023-24 Ivy Coach of the Year, who also picked up Coaching Staff of the Year honors during the cross country season this fall, will look to coach the Tigers to their sixth Triple Crown during his tenure.
- The Tigers are also joined by new assistant coaches Marshall Faurot and Duke Taylor, who specialize in jumps, multis and throws.
