The weekend will be a round robin of sorts, with Stanford playing at Penn on Thursday before coming to Princeton on Friday. It'll be the third of five trips east this season for the Cardinal, who will stick around the region to take on Drexel and Franklin & Marshall on Saturday for the Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference championship before heading back to California. Stanford enters the weekend at 4-1 in duals on the season and, like Princeton, is coming off its first dual loss of the year to Harvard, which came on Jan. 24 just before the CSA individual championships. The CSA individuals saw a Princeton-Stanford final, with Tiger sophomore Zeina Zein defeating Cardinal rookie Riya Navani in three games to become Princeton's first CSA individual national champion since 2001.
Penn stands 11-2 heading into Thursday's visit from the Cardinal, with the two losses coming to Trinity on Jan. 11 and at Harvard last weekend.
Princeton has won five in a row over Stanford since a CSA team tournament loss in 2019. The Tigers are unbeaten at home against Stanford, holding a 9-0 record since the teams' first meeting in the 2007-08 season. Princeton has won eight in a row against the Quakers since Penn's last win over Princeton in 2017. In Philadelphia, the Tigers have won three in a row over the Quakers since a 2016 loss.
Princeton is 8-1 overall and 4-1 in the Ivy, with the lone loss coming on Sunday at Harvard. The top three teams in the national rankings have gone 1-1 against each other this season, with No. 3 Princeton losing to No. 1 Harvard and defeating No. 2 Trinity, Trinity defeating Harvard and losing to Princeton, and Harvard losing to Trinity and defeating Princeton.
Following the Stanford and Penn matches, just two more weekends of competition will remain for the Tigers, who will host Georgetown and Virginia Feb. 22 and 23 and head to Philadelphia for the CSA team championship beginning March 6.
