PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton men's track and field team will travel to Virginia Beach for the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15.
The Tigers will compete in three events, with Harrison Witt in the mile, Greg Foster in the long jump, and a squad in the distance medley relay.Â
Â
Harrison Witt
Witt will compete in the mile, seeded eighth after running a blazing 3:52.87 in the mile at the BU Valentine Invite on February 14th. With his performance, Witt crushed his own Ivy League and Princeton record of 3:56.12 set just weeks before at the Penn 10 Elite meet. It improved upon his own personal record by nearly four seconds.Â
Â
The record is Witt's second in the Princeton books after he broke the school record in the 1000m earlier this season at the Princeton Navy Dual.
Â
At the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships on March 1st and 2nd, Witt claimed the championship title in the 1000 with a time of 2:19.98. His time set a new Barton Hall record and a new Ivy Indoor Heps meet record.
Â
Witt was also part of the gold-winning 4x800 squad, joined by Collin Boler, Connor McCormick, Harrison Witt, and Sam Rodman as they ran a blistering 7:24.85 for a new Princeton all-time second-best.Â
Â
Their time broke the long-standing meet record of 7:26.75, set by Army in 1983, while also clearing the 1998 facility record of 7:33.38 by Penn State. Additionally, the squad was just two seconds off from breaking the school record of 7:22.91.
Â
The trip will be Witt's second time to NCAAs after competing in the DMR in 2022.
Greg Foster
The three-time reigning Ivy League Long Jump Champion will head to Virginia Beach for his second indoor NCAA Championships this weekend.
Foster is seeded fourteenth with a season-best mark of 7.83m/25-8.25", which he jumped at the Navy vs Princeton dual in January.
Most recently, Foster won his third-straight Ivy title in the long jump at Heps with a mark of 7.58m/24-10.5".Â
Â
In 2023, Foster earned Second Team All-America honors after posting a 7.51m performance at indoor NCAAs.
Â
Foster ranks second in program history with his 2023 mark of 7.89m/25-10.5 in the event.
Â
DMR
Princeton is seeded sixth for the NCAA Championships after setting a new Ivy League record at the BU DMR Challenge this year. McCormick, Xavier Donaldson, Rodman and Witt ran a time of 9:17.30 for sixth all-time in NCAA history.
