PRINCETON, N.J. – After winning the Ivy League Championship in the mile, Mena Scatchard will represent Princeton in the event at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Virginia Beach this weekend.
The championships will be held in the Virginia Beach Sports Center, with the semifinal of the mile at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, March 14 and the final at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 15.
Scatchard is seeded 14th in the event with her personal best time of 4:28.43, which she ran at the Eagle Elite Invitational in Boston on February 14th.
The time set a new Princeton record, and improved from her previous personal best of 4:32.95, which she ran at the Dr. Sander Scorcher in January.
At the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships on March 1st and 2nd, Scatchard won the Ivy title in the mile and set a new Barton Hall facility record with her time of 4:36.23. Scatchard was also part of the Tiger squad that won the title in the 4x800, after Scatchard's 2:04.31 anchor leg that helped the Tigers get gold.
Her performances helped the Tigers win the Ivy League Championship, the team's first indoor title since 2011 and first under Head Coach Michelle Eisenreich.
A senior that has been capping off her impressive career with an even more impressive season, Scatchard holds the school records in five events. Individually, she holds the record in the mile, the 3000, and the 1500, with all three set this season. She is part of the record-holding relays squads in the 4x800 and the DMR.
