No. 2 Men’s Lightweight Rowing Retains Diamond Challenge Trophy After Historic Dead Heat
March 30, 2025 | Men's Rowing - Lightweight
PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 2 Princeton University men's lightweight rowing team retained the Diamond Challenge Trophy against No. 5 Dartmouth Sunday at Lake Carnegie, as the Tigers came from behind to secure a dead heat against the Big Green.
"Another crazy morning in lightweight rowing," said Head Coach Marty Crotty. "I was super proud of the team today top to bottom. We woke up to the news that one of our guys wasn't going to be able to suit up for us because of a medical issue in the middle of the night.
With such an early start we didn't have much time to move our guys around and make all the weight averaging work, but everyone rallied. Fifteen minutes after the guys found out that they'd be rowing in a different seat or a different boat we went out there and for the second straight day we didn't lose a boat race."
Princeton's 2V (6:05.9) came out on top against Dartmouth (6:17.4), while the 3V (6:19.1) also finished in front of the Big Green (6:36.6). The Tiger's 4V raced the 3V race and finished in 6:48.2.
