PHILADELPHIA – The No. 4 Princeton University men's lightweight rowing team successfully won back the Wood-Hammond Trophy after defeating the No. 2 University of Pennsylvania at the Schuylkill River Saturday morning. Georgetown also raced against the Tigers and Quakers.
"Happy to bring the Wood-Hammond Trophy back to Princeton after losing it last year in such a close race," said Head Coach Marty Crotty. "You wouldn't know it if you were just walking your dog in the park this morning on such a beautiful day, but the water conditions during the racing today, especially the first varsity race were challenging to say the very least.
The guys in the 1V made some much-needed mid-season technical changes this week in practice just in time to face the angry Schuylkill today.
We have another huge week coming up, in preparation for the annual HYP race. This year it occurs on Lake Carnegie, it will be our seniors last race in Princeton, and one day after the last day of school."
