Helm Sets New Discus Record as Tigers Compete at Penn Relays, Lions Invite

PRINCETON, N.J. – With Casey Helm breaking the school record in the discus, the Princeton men's track and field team had a strong showing at both the Penn Relays and the TCNJ Lions Invite this weekend.
Penn Relays
Helm highlighted the weekend, throwing an impressive 63.37m/207-11" for gold in the college men's discus championship. His mark smashed the previous record of 205-11/62.77, set in 2022 by Robbie Otal.
Avery Shunneson also claimed fourth in the discus, throwing 56.90/186-8".
In the shot put, Joe Licata claimed second with a throw of 19.24m/63-1.5". The mark puts him third all-time in the Princeton record books.
Sebastian Clatworthy took silver in the high jump, clearing 2,15m/7-0.5". I
In the hammer throw, Asher Robbins finished in ninth place with a throw of 61.00m/200-1".
Franco Parra Ramon came in 15th in the 3000 steeplechase, clocking in at 8:53.30.

Lions Invite
Isa Hitchens won the 400, running a new personal-best time of 48.01.
In the triple jump, Ilay Furman took third with a mark of 13.97m/45-10".
Easton Tan took second in the 110 hurdles, clocking in at 14.12. Yuki Hojo and Albert Kreutzer were just behind him with 14.56 for fifth and 14.58 for sixth, respectively.
Lorenzo Cagliero took fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.82m/22-04.50.

With outdoor heps on the horizon, Princeton will first compete at home in Weaver Stadium next weekend as they host the Larry Ellis invitational on May 2nd and 3rd.
