Nenow Sets New 10000m Record as Princeton Hosts Sam Howell Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. -- First-year Jacob Nenow set a new program record in the 10,000m as Princeton men's track and field hosted the Sam Howell Invitational on Friday in Weaver Stadium.Â
Nenow ran a blazing 28:23.60, smashing the previous record of  28:49.08 set in 2014 by Chris Bendtsen. Senior Nicholas Bendtsen was also under the previous record, running 28:25.21 just behind Nenow.Â
Joey Gant and Xavier Donaldson each set new personal bests in the 400m, with Gant running 46.35 and Donaldson running 46.65. The pair took first and second, respectively, while Karl Dietz took third at 47.25.
Casey Helm won the discus, throwing 60.03m/196-11". The victory marks the junior's third event win this season so far, and his second-consecutive week throwing over 60m.
First-year Drew Mruk won the javelin throw with a mark of 59.88m/196-5" in just his second collegiate competition in the event.Â
Chris Paige won the 400m hurdles, clocking in at 51.49. The mark is a new PR and it puts him at fourth all-time on the Princeton leaderboard.
Jackson Shorten won the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 8:40.45.Â
Greg Foster won the long jump with a mark of 7.84m/25-8.75" - just a few inches off from his personal best of 7.97m/26' 1.75".
Up next, Princeton will look ahead to next weekend for the 44 Farms Team Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.Â
