No. 4 Heavyweight Rowing Aims To Win 13th Straight Childs Cup

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 4 Princeton University heavyweight rowing team will aim to continue its strong start to the season on Apr. 12 when it takes on the No. 8 University of Pennsylvania and No. 14 Columbia for the Childs Cup in New York, New York, at Overpeck Park.
Childs Cup History
The Childs Cup is presented by George M. Childs and is rowed for annually by Princeton, Penn and Columbia. The Tigers lead the all-time series, having won the Childs Cup 53 times to the Quakers' 44 and the Lions 12. Princeton will strive to win the Childs Cup for the 13th straight season. The Childs Cup was most recently raced for on Apr. 13, 2024, at Lake Carnegie, with the Tigers' winning it for the 12th time in a row.
Last Time Out
Most recently, the Tigers retained the Princeton-Navy Cup against the 15th-ranked Midshipmen on Apr. 5, sweeping all five races. At the conclusion of racing, a pair of boats were dedicated. The first was the 1952, dedicated to Edgar Masinter '52 to honor the 1952 varsity. The second was to Nick Mead '17, who carried the flag for Team USA at the Paris Olympic Games after winning a gold medal.

The Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA) announced its 2025 Athlete Watchlist on Apr. 2 and Patrick Long along with Connor Neill and Theo Bell were among the selections.
