
No. 6 Women's Rowing's 1V Wins Eighth Straight Ivy Gold; Tigers Finish Second in Team Standings

The First Varsity ripped off a blistering time of 6:01.18 to take down No. 5 Yale (6:05.06) by 3.8 seconds. The Tigers led throughout the race, defeating Yale's previously unbeaten boat. Brown took home bronze (6:07.86) followed by Dartmouth (6:09.18), Penn (6:12.38) and Harvard (6:14.44).
It is the eighth consecutive victory for the 1V at Ivies and 10th in the past 11 events.

"I'm just so proud of everyone in that boat and everyone on this team for what they did," said Katherine George. "I think this title is one of the most significant of my career. Coming back from a loss (to Yale), proving to ourselves and to everyone else that we were able to turn it around shows all of our hard work."
The Varsity Four C got racing started on Sunday morning with gold for the Tigers at 7:15.35, 3.3 seconds ahead of Yale (7:18.66). The boat trailed Brown at the 500m mark by 1.3 seconds but quickly gathered the top spot at the 1,000m point and led the rest of the way.

The second varsity just missed out on gold, recording a 6:07.39, .6 seconds back of Yale (6:06.75). Brown was third (6:12.85) with Harvard (6:12.85), Dartmouth (6:24.56) and Penn (6:29.11) rounding out the field.

Princeton's varsity four nabbed bronze, crossing the line at 7:01.39 while Yale (6:52.86) and Brown (6:57.90) picked up the top two positions.

Princeton was second to Yale for the Sally P. Shoemaker Trophy and the Ivy League's NCAA automatic qualifier by one point (45-44). Brown was third with 37 points followed by Dartmouth (27), Harvard (24), Penn (21), Columbia (12) and Cornell (6). Yale also collected the overall point title over Princeton (89-84).
"It means the world to me," said Princeton head coach Lori Dauphiny about the Ivy League Championship. "It's about the team and that's what creates fast boats. It's not one boat or one individual and to see everyone on this team wearing an Ivy Champions shirt fills me up with tremendous pride."
The NCAA Selection Show will be on Tuesday (May 20th) at 5 p.m. The field is made up of 22 teams, nine earning automatic bids through conference championships and 13 receiving at-large bids.
