Drew Cottrell has been the Director of Lacrosse Operations for the Princeton Men's Lacrosse Program since the start of the 2021-22 academic year.
Within his role, Cottrell has impacted every aspect of the program, including game-day management, social media, coordinating recruiting, making travel plans and many other areas. His presence has enabled the coaching staff to focus on the on-field needs, and the partnership has seen the Tigers reach the NCAA tournament twice in two years, with one Final Four and one Ivy League tournament championship.
"There is nothing that happens here without Cotts' input and support," head coach Matt Madalon says. "He is universally respected and valued by every player, coach, staff member, parent and fan in our program. We would not have had the success we've had since his arrival without the work he's done."
Â
Cottrell spent two years as an assistant coach at Muhlenberg College where the Mules went 5-0 in 2020 before the remainder of the season was cancelled. In 2021, the team finished 2nd in the Centennial Conference, which was the highest finish in program history.Â
Â
Before coaching at Muhlenberg, Cottrell spent time as a player and a student-assistant while an undergraduate at Stevens Institute of Technology. During his time at Stevens, he earned a degree in Business Management, was a team captain, and was twice named as an Empire 8 Conference Sportsman of the Year. In 2018, he was a member of the coaching staff that was awarded the IMLCA D3 East Region Coaching Staff of the Year.
Â
A native of Homer, NY, he attended Homer High School and was a New York State Section 3 Boys Lacrosse Academic All-American in 2015.Â
