Dec. 13, 1999
Mason Rocca began his week uncertain if he could hold up physically through three games in six days. He ended it being called by his coach a "Greek God" and as the Ivy League Player of the Week.
Rocca, Princeton's 6-9 senior co-captain, had 61 points and 26 rebounds in leading the Tigers to a sweep of Bucknell, Texas Christian and Rutgers. He scored 15 points, including the game-winner with one second to go, in the 50-48 win at Bucknell to start the week, and he followed that with 18 points in the OT win against TCU and a career-high 28 along with 13 rebounds in the OT win against the Scarlet Knights.
Rocca shot 23 for 40 for the week and added seven assists and five steals. Princeton has averaged 64.2 points per game in the five games since he returned from a groin injury after averaging 47 points per game in the four he missed. Princeton is 4-1 since he returned and 4-0 since he returned to the starting lineup.
Spencer Gloger, a 6-6 freshman guard, was named the Ivy Rookie of the Week. Gloger had a season-high 18 points in the win over TCU, and he helped seal the TCU and Rutgers wins with key foul shots in the final minute of overtime.
For the week Gloger had 32 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and four steals.
Princeton is off until Saturday, when it hosts Alabama-Birmingham (7:37).
