Spencer Gloger became the first freshman since 1994 to be honored as Ivy League men's basketball Player of the Week.
Gloger, a 6' 6" guard from Santa Margarita, Calif., was named Player of the Week today after his 34-point outburst against UAB Saturday night.
Among the records Gloger set in the 64-41 win over the visiting Blazers were most three-pointers in a game by a Princeton player (breaking the old record of eight, set in 1990 by Matt Lapin) and most points in a game by a Princeton freshman (the old record of 28 was set twice by Kit Mueller in 1988).
The 10 three-pointers also tied the Ivy League record, set in 1995 by Matt Maloney of Penn. It equalled the Princeton women's record, set in 1990 by Sandi Bittler against Dartmouth.
Gloger's 34 points were the most by a Tiger since Rick Hielscher also scored 34 against Dartmouth in 1995. No Princeton player has scored more points in a game since Kevin Mullin had 38 in the 1984 NCAA tournament against San Diego.
Princeton, which has won five straight and is 6-4, is at Kansas Wednesday night.
